Since the year 2000, International Education Week (IEW) has been a way for students, academics, alumni, and professionals in 100+ nations around the world to celebrate and honour the importance of international education.
At first, the online discussion around International Education Week was mostly fostered by a few universities and colleges. Since then, the number of international students studying around the world has increased by more than four times—from 1.6 million international students, to over 6.4 million and growing.
As the sector grew alongside the rise of social media, IEW became a global opportunity for everyone to celebrate the impact and importance of international students and “studying abroad” more generally.
