What to Expect on Orientation Day

There is so much valuable information available on this day. Chances are, your college or university has already sent you a detailed information package with all the dates and prerequisites for this important day.

What is Orientation Day?

Orientation day is essentially a day for students to learn what to expect before officially starting their first day of classes. Think of it as a “sneak peek” into what’s in store, so that you start your journey with confidence. This day is also a great way to become familiar with your campus, as well as meet some new people! It gives you the chance to make new friends, meet your roommates, tour the campus, purchase textbooks, and more!

What to Expect on Orientation Day

The Campus Tour

The Campus Tour Guide will show you:

  • Classrooms
  • Cafeterias and other dining areas
  • Restaurants and coffee shops
  • Book stores
  • Libraries
  • Student union
  • International offices (a great source of resources for international students)
  • Tutor center

If you are going to live on campus, you will most likely get a tour of student housing. Most rooms have essentials like a bed and desk, as well as storage options. There, you’ll likely also be shown and introduced to student resident assistants and directors, as well as student common areas. Popular student common areas include:
